Adult Cornhole League Coming to Chisholm

Calling all 18+ cornhole players! The Springfield Recreation Department is sponsoring a new cornhole league for adult residents this spring. The pilot program, if successful, will return in future seasons. Intermediate to advanced players are invited to join us for this fun and competitive league! The league consists of weekly round robin tournaments between teams of two players on the following Sunday afternoons at the Chisholm Community Center from 2:00-4:00 pm: May 21, June 4, June 11, June 18, and June 25. The fee of $50 per person includes all equipment, shirt, and prizes.

The Pearl Observatory will Visit The Springfield Free Public Library

The Springfield Free Public Library is hosting a visit from The Pearl Observatory in their portable planetarium on May 13th. Learn about planets, constellations and more.  We will be holding two sessions for kids ages five and up.  Due to space restrictions parents may not accompany kids into the planetarium.  Two time slots available.  Please register for only one.

JCP&L Helicopter Patrols

Please be advised that on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, weather permitting, Chesapeake Bay Helicopters will be returning to the JCP&L Region to perform UV/IR patrols on our transmission lines.  These inspections are anticipated to take approximately four to five days to complete, but as always, work is weather dependent, and completion could be impeded by any post-storm or outage-related patrols that may occur.  The helicopter to be used for these patrols are as follows:

​Springfield Gathers for ​Egg Hunt & Kite Fest

On Saturday, April 8, 2023, hundreds of community members of all ages joined together at Chisholm Park for the Township of Springfield's annual Egg Hunt & Kite Fest, which was postponed from the previous week due to rain and wind. The event was sponsored by the Springfield Recreation Department, along with Mike Scalera State Farm Agency and Cardinal Land Properties. On a partly cloudy day in the low-50s, the popular spring event featured kite flying and separate egg hunts for toddlers through teenagers.

New Youth Dance Class Offered at Chisholm this Spring

Mondays, starting April 10, from 5:00-6:00 pm, children in Pre-K through 3rd grade are invited to join K-Kidz Bop -- a new dance and movement class run by Kiddies Kaleidoscope in partnership with the Springfield Recreation Department at the Chisholm Community Center! The weekly class costs $135 per child. Details and registration at www.kiddieskaleidoscope.com. The class focuses on contemporary dance moves using the latest sounds in popular music together with choreography.
