U.S. Sports Institute Spring Sale for Springfield Recreation Department Affiliated Programs

U.S. Sports Institute is offering a "Spring Sale" from Tuesday, February 2, 2022, through Wednesday, February 23, 2022, for upcoming Springfield programs held in association with the Springfield Recreation Department. Customers who use code SS22SALE can save $10 per program. Soccer, Multi Sports & Tennis classes, plus Spring Break camp, are now available! Youth programs are held at Chisholm Community Center, Chisholm Park, Denham Park, and Irwin Park.

As you can see from the three attached pictures, the walls in the children’s room now look as good as new and remediation work is also moving full steam ahead  in staff offices and workroom areas.   The next step in the process will be the installation of brand new carpet tiles throughout the children’s room, teen room, AV room, new book and circulation desk areas.    

Springfield Unity Project Youth Group and Bridges Outreach Make Lunch for The Homeless

The Springfield Unity Project Youth Group in collaboration with Bridges Outreach in Summit NJ made lunches for the homeless on MLK Day.  The group noted It was a great and rewarding experience that they loved doing and they enjoyed contributing and giving back to the Community. About 12 people made 250 lunches!

February Virtual Teen Programs at the Springfield Free Public Library

Check out the following virtual activities for teens the Springfield Free Public Library is offering throughout the month of February. All programs require registration with Teen Librarian Ms. Alice at [email protected]. A Zoom link will be shared upon confirmation of registration.  

 

Community Jigsaw Puzzles (Gr. 6-8)

Wednesday, February 2nd & 16th at 4:00 PM

Those in grades 6-8 are invited to help Ms. Alice complete online jigsaw puzzles. Puzzles are accessible via Ravensburger, and we'll voice chat via Zoom.

Church Mall Redevelopment Plan Presentation

Uniformity, Ample Space and Plenty of Parking Included with Blacks Lane and Church Mall Redevelopment Plan.

For the past year and a half, plans have been underway to not only add attractive living space but to keep from overcrowding while meeting Springfield’s COAH obligation. In 2006, Springfield designated this area for redevelopment. Over the years more properties were added, resulting in 4.9 acres. 

Springfield Recreation Announces Summer Camp Hiring

We're already planning for Chisholm Playground Camp this summer and help is wanted! Do you or someone you know want to work as a camp counselor? The Springfield Recreation Department is now accepting online applications for summer jobs at Chisholm Playground Camp. Instructions and online application are available at www.springfield-nj.us/departments/recreation/employment. The application deadline is Friday, February 25, 2022. Questions?
