Springfield Recreation to Screen "The Lion King" at Chisholm Park in August

Save the date! Join friends and neighbors at an outdoor movie later this summer! On Thursday, August 26, 2021 (rain date Friday, August 27, 2021), the Disney live-action remake of "The Lion King" (2019-PG) will be presented on a jumbo screen at Chisholm Park (100 South Springfield Avenue). Gather for DJ music by Summit Soundz and free individually-wrapped popcorn bags at 7:30 pm. The movie will begin at 8:00 pm and end at 10:00 pm. Bring your own lawn chairs or blankets. Chisholm Community Center will be open for bathroom usage.

Adult Game Nights to Start at the Springfield Library

Beginning Thursday, July 8 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM the Springfield Library will host Adult Game Night in the Donald B. Palmer Museum every Thursday evening in July and August. Currently, there is a group that will be playing mahjong. Those interested in canasta, chess, or Scrabble are encouraged to inform Library Director, Dale Spindel at [email protected] and she will determine if there is enough interest to add new games. 

 

SAINT JAMES PARISHONERS BID THEIR PASTOR FAREWELL

 

The parishioners of Saint James the Apostle Church expressed love and appreciation for their pastor, Rev. Joseph F. Barbone on the occasion of his retirement with a special mass followed by a picnic on the church grounds on Sunday, June 27, 2021.

“Fr. Joe,” as he is affectionately known to his parishioners, has served as  pastor of Saint James since January 2016. His last day as pastor is June 30, 2021.
