Samaritan Outreac Services (SOS) Holds Fundraising Benefit

Samaritan Outreach Services (SOS), held their third annual fundraising benefit at the Costa Del Sol in Union on November 3, 2017.  SOS, which began as a ministry of The Abundant Life Church in Springfield, consists of 3 main facets; Outreach Services which provides the most basic needs to the homeless, The Samaritan House, which is a treatment / sober living facility, and lastly a work therapy program (SOS Work Services).

Springfield Patriot Chamber of Commerce Meeting Highlights 12-21-17

Over 25 people attended the Springfield Patriot's Chamber of Commerce meeting this morning.  It was held at the Hilton Gardens and sponsored this month by Regal Bank. 

Here are a few highlights from the meeting:

          Rotary – December 14th Rise Against Hunger was a success.  Over 150 volunteers turned out to help prepare and package meals.  Thank you to the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Lion Club and the Township Committee and all the other volunteers.  Over 30,000 meals were packaged.

Deputy Mayor Maria Vassallo Presents Plaque to Committeewoman Geri Ann Bujnowski

At the December 19th Township Committee Meeting Deputy Mayor Maria Vassallo recognized Committeewoman Geri Ann Bujnowski for her service to the Community while serving on the Township Committee.  Bujnowski’s term comes to an end on the 31st of the month.  She served on the Township Committee from October 13, 2016 until December 31st 2017.  Vassallo commented on her dedication and devotion the job and how she worked on other committees as well, including the Memorial Day Parade Committee over the years prior to being on the Township Committee.

Springfield PBA Local 76 Donates Toys for Springfield H.O.P.E

The Toy Drive for Springfield HOPE is well underway.  Toys are being sorted at the "North Pole" and our Toy Trailer is almost full.   Once again Springfield PBA Local 76 donated toys to Springfield H.O.P.E for their Toys for Springfield Kids program.

Public Chanukah Menorah lighting Held December 12th

Springfield’s annual Public Chanukah Menorah Lighting Ceremony was held on cool and blustery Tuesday evening, December 12, 2017, at Veterans Memorial Park.  Several hundred Springfielders attended and amongst them were members of Springfield's Police and Fire Departments, Springfield’s First Aid Squad & the Township Committee. The event marked the celebration of Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, with a public menorah lighting sponsored by the Chabad Jewish Learning Center of Springfield in partnership with Congregation Israel of Springfield.
