Message from the Mayor

Message from the Mayor June 2014

Memorial Day marks the unofficial beginning of summer. I would like to thank Mrs. Geri Bujinaski and Linda Donnelly for all her hard work in putting together the outstanding Memorial Day ceremony and parade. The support of our community is truly amazing. Memorial Day also marked the opening of the Springfield Community Pool. The pool underwent some major renovations this past winter. Some of those improvements you will see are redone bathrooms, freshly painted pool, new fixtures were installed and new tiles were installed. The renovations to the pool however are not complete.

Message from the Mayor - March 2014

I hope that as you are reading this, it is 60 degrees, sunny and finally all of the snow is gone. Once again I would like to thank our Department of Public Works, Police Department, Fire Department and Office of Emergency Management for their outstanding efforts during this very difficult winter. Many of our residents are still experiencing problems with our mail delivery. We have spoken with Assemblyman Lenoard Lance's office, who have been in contact with the United States Postal Office and are promising us that they are doing everything possible to correct the problems.

Message from the Mayor - Febuary 2014

I hope everyone is off to a wonderful start to this New Year. First let me start by saying I am honored to serve this wonderful town as mayor for the 2014 year. Mother Nature has made for a very difficult month. With that I would like to thank Ken Homlish, our Superintendent of Public Works, and his staff for their excellent work in clearing the snow and ice from our roads and sidewalks. Also, a special thanks to Police Chief John Cook and his staff, and Fire Chief James Sanford and his staff for keeping our town safe.

Message from the Mayor - January 2014

First I would like to congratulate Mr. Jerry Fernandez and welcome you to the 2014 Springfield Township Committee. Forty years ago my wife Ginnie and I decided to move to Springfield and begin raising our family here. We choose Springfield because of the beautiful charm, excellent schools, and wonderful people that truly make Springfield a great town. I have shared so many wonderful memories here in Springfield that I do not think I would ever be able to call any other place home.

Message from the Mayor - December 2013

This is both the last column for 2013 and my last column as the mayor of Springfield. Although this is my goodbye as your mayor, it is not my goodbye when it comes to my commitment to this town. I plan to stay involved in issues close to my heart, including the business improvement district (BID). I am quite proud of the progress achieved this year working in concert with the BID. The unique private-public partnership has allowed the BID and the township to enter into an agreement with a significant property owner expressly for the purpose of redevelopment in our downtown.
