Message from the Mayor - March 2014

I hope that as you are reading this, it is 60 degrees, sunny and finally all of the snow is gone. Once again I would like to thank our Department of Public Works, Police Department, Fire Department and Office of Emergency Management for their outstanding efforts during this very difficult winter. Many of our residents are still experiencing problems with our mail delivery. We have spoken with Assemblyman Lenoard Lance's office, who have been in contact with the United States Postal Office and are promising us that they are doing everything possible to correct the problems.

Captain Dave Maas of the fire department and Sergeant Steve Holyfield of the police department have recently retired and we would like to express our sincerest thank you for all their hard work and dedication to this town. Captain Maas served for over 35 years on our fire department, and
Sergeant Holyfield worked for our police department for 25 years. Individuals like this who
sacrifice so much for our town are truly what make Springfield such a special place.

On March 11 at 6:30 pm at Town Hall, the Springfield Business Improvement District will be presenting some of their preliminary plans for the revitalization of our downtown. Any residents interested in learning more are invited to attend this meeting.

Potholes are becoming a major problem in town. Our Department of Public Works has been working hard to try and stay on top of this problem. I am asking any resident that encounters a
pothole that needs to be repaired to please contact me immediately at [email protected]. Finally, I would like to express how honored I am to serve the Town of Springfield.
