Springfield Celebrates Arbor Day at Veterans Park

Thanks to our sponsors

On Friday, April 28th, the Township celebrated Arbor Day in a big way.  The Department of Public Works was joined by Saint James School, municipal employees, friends and neighborsand planted a beautiful white oak tree at the Veteran Memorial Park.  According to Mr. Robert Boettcher, DPW Director, we also distributed over 1,000 tree seedlings.   In an exclusive interview with the Patriot Times, Mr. Boettcher, DPW Director stated "Arbor Day is a day set aside for schools, civic clubs, and other organizations, as well as individuals, to reflect on the importance of trees in our township, state and across our nation.  Every tree planted on Arbor Day helps clean the air and water, beautify neighborhoods, provide homes for wildlife, conserve energy, and prevent soil erosion, among many other benefits. Arbor Day gives everyone an opportunity to learn about trees and the environmental, social, economic and health benefits they provide to communities."
