The first weekend in June not only brought beautiful weather to the area, but a terrific newcomer to the Springfield community. The Decorating Store at Terminal Mill Ends and its owner, Ernest Spinelli, celebrated its ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, June 2 with the Springfield Patriot Chamber of Commerce and Springfield Business Improvement District. The ribbon cutting was followed by a grand opening event on Saturday, June 3 with much fanfare.

The Decorating Store at Terminal Mill Ends, located at 711 and 715 Mountain Avenue, features everything you need for the perfect home décor, from window treatments to reupholstery. Linda Brodean, General Manager for The Decorating Store, described the 711 Mountain Avenue address as the main retail location and central base for store operations. And, the 715 Mountain Avenue address next store features a showroom for high-end furnishings as well as a back-room area where most of the reupholstery and refinishing work is conducted.

The store is not a new business, having spent nearly 70 years on Stuyvesant Avenue in Union. Founded by the mother and father of Ernest’s deceased wife, Nina, who joined the business in 1978, The Decorating Store at Terminal Mill Ends pays homage to their past by keep the former store name, “Terminal Mill Ends,” in the title. There is also a beautiful tribute to Nina on the second floor; a bookshelf set with jars of matchbooks, which Nina loved to collect.

The Decorating Store is open Monday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
