FILMS

·         Thursday, August 3rd at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm – The International Film Festival presents Eagle Huntress (2016).

·         Thursday, August 10th at 1:00 pm and 6:45 pm – The International Film Festival presents Dheepan (2015).

·         Monday, August 14th at 1:00 pm – The Lunchtime Film Series presents Fences (2016).

·         Monday, August 28th at 1:00 pm – The Lunchtime Film Series presents Hacksaw Ridge (2016).

 

COMPUTER TRAINING

·         The Library will offer free computer lessons on selected mornings, by appointment. Sign up for an individual half-hour lesson on basic computer skills. Stop by the Reference Desk or call (973)376-4930.

 

SCRABBLE AND CHESS

·         Scrabble Night continues – Monday evenings at 7:00 pm – Bring a friend or meet new opponents!  Chess for adults is on Thursday nights at 7:00 pm.

 

MAH JONGG, BRIDGE, AND CANASTA

·         The Mah Jongg Club and Bridge Club meet on Wednesdays (6:45-8:50 pm).

·         For new players, we have Canasta (Mon. 6:30 – 8:00 pm) and Mah Jongg classes (Tues. 2:00-3:00 pm).

DROP IN TECH HELP

·         Come in for free assistance with Nooks, Kindles, Androids, iPads, and iPhone. Learn how to borrow free eBooks and audiobooks with your Springfield card. Sessions run from 7:00-8:30 pm each Monday – no appointment necessary.

 

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

·         Wednesday, August 2nd at 7:00 pm – Brian Platzer, author of Bed-Stuy is Burning, will hold a reading and book signing.

·         Monday, August 14th at 7:00 pm – Enjoy Explore India presents “The Ancient Tradition of Indian Block Printing”. Patrons must register at the Youth Services desk (Ages 8 to adult).

·         Thursday, August 17th – The Friends of Springfield Free Public Library celebrate their 50th Anniversary! Programs will be held all day:

o   10:00 am - 12:00 pm : Enjoy party games on the Fun Bus (ages 2 – 6)

o   2:00 pm - 3:30 pm : Harmony Celebration Choir Performs

o   6:30 pm - 8:30 pm : Family Fun with Party Maniacs & TapSnap Photo Kiosk
