Temple Sha’arey Shalom, Springfield, offers a Celebration of Jewish Books

On Sunday, March 25, from 11am-2pm, Temple  Sha’arey Shalom, 78 South Springfield Avenue, Springfield will offer a celebration  of Jewish books.  Admission is free. 

Gerald Fierst, a professional storyteller and author who has worked in film, television and theater, will be doing two storytelling sessions, one for 4-8 year olds and one for everyone 9 years old and above!  Fierst has been a featured teller and ghost story teller at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN, a Storyteller in Residence at the International Storytelling  Center , and a featured performer at The European Conference of Jewish Educators.  ABC News called him “A  Master Storyteller.”  There will also be a story reading for 1-3 year olds.

Richard Squires, a local author and freelance writer, whose  fiction has appeared in The MacGuffin, the Jewish Literary Journal, Upender: Art of Consequence, and Gemini Magazine, will be reading one of his stories followed by a brief discussion. The event will include a demonstration of how to make Sephardic Charosis in anticipation of Passover. Lunch will be available for purchase.
