2021 Springfield Free Public Library Summer Reading 

 

The Springfield Free Public Library will host summer reading virtually via READsquared, an online platform that allows Springfield residents to log their reading, earn points, and enter for a chance to win the grand prize raffle drawing! 

 

Program begins Thursday, June 17 and ends on August 14. To register and learn more, visit http://springfieldlibrary.readsquared.com/. You can also register at the library by speaking with a librarian in the Youth Services department. Those who register on or before July 6 will receive a voucher for a free ice cream with Scream Truck when it makes a visit to the library from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday, July 10. Children and teens may register for the reading program after July 6; however, anyone registering after July 6 will not receive a voucher for free ice cream and may not participate in the Scream Truck event on July 10.

 

Children’s Summer Reading Program: open to Springfield residents entering Pre-K through 5th grade, ages 3-10. The grand prize raffle includes a Catapult Making Kit, Dinosaur Toy Painting Kit, DIY Magic Bouncy Balls Kit, Sew Mini Treats Craft Kit, Clay Charms Craft Kit, and 2 Admission Tickets to Crayola Experience (Easton, PA). 


 Teen Summer Reading Program: open to Springfield residents entering grades 6th through 12th, ages 11-18. The grand prize raffle includes a $20 Barnes & Noble gift card, $20 Target gift card, $20 Cheesecake Factory gift card, and two Admission Tickets to Adventure Aquarium (Camden, NJ). 

 

Upcoming Special Events: 

 

Patricia Shih Live in Concert: Outdoor family music on Thursday, June 24 at 7:00 PM, to be held on the Town Hall lawn. Attendees will need to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, or other outdoor seating.

 

Scream Truck vouchers for one free ice cream on Saturday, July 10, between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM. To participate, children ages 3-10 years and teens 11-18 years must register for summer reading and pick up the voucher at the library no later than Tuesday, July 6.  Those who register after July 6 are not eligible to receive a voucher for free ice cream.

 

Touch-A-Truck: Outdoor event with the Springfield rescue squad, fire department, and police department on August 11 from 5 PM to 7 PM, rain date August 18.

 

To learn more about upcoming programs, visit www.sfplnj.org. Crafts for ages 8-10 will be held every other Monday at 6 PM, crafts for ages 3-8 every Wednesday at 10:30 AM, and storytime on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 AM. Teen programs will usually be on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 3:30 PM.
