FEMA Comes To Springfield

Thanks to our sponsors

On Tuesday, October 5th, representatives from FEMA and the Small Business Administration (SBA) came to Town Hall to meet with residents affected by Tropical Storm Ida.  Over 40 residents showed up to find out what type of assistance was available and how to apply for it.  After Mayor Chris Weber introduced the FEMA personnel, FEMA noted a Disaster Recovery Center was just opened in Cranford at the Cranford Community Center as well.  Residents who were not able to attend the meeting at Town Hall can get the same assistance at the DRC six days a week.  The most important thing noted was to register with FEMA.  If you don’t register, we don’t know you need help.  Registering can be done online by going to https://www.disasterassistance.gov/ and entering your zip code.  You must sign up before the November 4th deadline.  The meeting went on for almost 3 hours with everyone getting personal attention from FEMA.   . FEMA will spend the week of October 11th taking a firsthand look at the damage and contacting residents in affected neighborhoods.

Deputy Mayor Alex Keiser and Springfield Emergency Management staff members were on hand as well.
