Volunteers Needed - Post-Ida Springfield Community Clean Up: Sunday, November 7

Thanks to our sponsors

The Springfield Environmental Commission and Department of Public Works have announced a post-Ida Community Clean Up for some of the most severely affected public spaces in Springfield.

SEC Chair Alyson Weber Miller said, “We have identified Laurel Park, Washington Park, Smithfield Park and the area between Walton and Sandmeier Schools as those most affected. Floodwaters bring up garbage and we’d like to get these areas cleaned up before colder weather makes this untenable.”

The SEC and DPW will provide gloves, trash bags, tools and supervision. Volunteers are welcome and needed!  School, community, religious and scout based groups and individuals can all participate. Simply show up at one of the areas mentioned. The work will begin at 11:00 AM on Sunday, November 7.
