Brendan O'Reilly, Springfield's Assistant Director of Recreation since 2019, received the New Jersey Recreation and Park Association (NJRPA) William D. Foelsch Rising Professional of the Year Award at the organization's annual awards dinner on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, held at Harrah's Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City. The award recognizes a member who reflects high professional values and has rendered outstanding contributions to the fields of recreation, parks, conservation, or therapeutic recreation in a full-time capacity for two to five years. Brendan's award was introduced by David Guida, NJRPA Awards Program Chairman; and was presented by Leonard Celluro, Jr., NJRPA President.

Prior to his current role in the Springfield Recreation Department, Brendan served as a part-time Recreation Assistant and Program Coordinator, and worked as an Assistant Manager at the Springfield Community Pool. Brendan has served as an elected member-at-large of the NJRPA Aquatics Section, as well as a participant in the NJRPA Mentorship Program. He is a Certified Pool Operator and a Certified Pool Director, and has received training in Certified Playground Safety Inspection.

"I'm very proud of Brendan for earning this recognition," said Adam Lieb, Director of Recreation. "He's a friendly face at Chisholm and the pool, and full of energy and good ideas. Brendan is highly involved in our special events, new playground designs, volunteer coach education, summer hiring, and our afterschool program, among many other projects. This award is a sign of things to come for Brendan in his involvement in the township and NJRPA."
