Community Planting Day, Friday, July 15

Join us from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Friday, July 15, to help plant vegetables in the library's newly restored "Lettuce Read and Grow" garden. Best suited for children ages 3 and up, this activity marks the first planting in the library's garden since it was severely damaged by the flood waters of Hurricane Ida nearly one year ago.

Registration for this activity is not required and adult caregivers should be prepared for kids participating in this event to get their hands and clothes dirty. Pumpkins, spinach, peppers, tomatoes, asparagus, artichokes and chard are among the vegetables that we are planning to plant.

The Lettuce Read and Grow garden is being restored thanks to the efforts and generous donations of the Springfield Environmental Commission, the Springfield Green Team, and the Junior Springfield Green Team.

For more information, contact Brie Mintz, Children's Librarian, at [email protected]
