Tree Lighting & Concert Postponed to Thursday, December 1

The Township of Springfield's Tree Lighting & Concert is postponed to the raindate of Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 pm, outside Town Hall and the First Aid Squad, due to rainy and windy conditions forecasted for the original date. Beginning at approximately 6:30 pm, the community will be treated to live musical performances by Taye McQueen, singer, actress, and Jonathan Dayton High School Class of 2011 graduate; students from Front & Center for Performing Arts of Springfield; and the Jonathan Dayton High School Jazz Ensemble. The program will feature greetings by Mayor Alex Keiser, as well as appearances by a Toy Soldier and the Grinch. After the Christmas Tree lighting countdown at approximately 7:30 pm, Santa Claus will join the festivities and pose for pictures. During the event, give-aways including hot pretzels and prizes will be provided by the Springfield Recreation Department, Springfield Business Improvement District (B.I.D.), and the Springfield F.M.B.A. Local #57. Photo opportunities will be available in a giant Inflatable Snow Globe. Attendees are encouraged to bring $10 gift cards (Walmart, Target, or Amazon) for Springfield H.O.P.E. to donate to resident families in need. Springfield Unity Project (S.U.P.) will be collecting non-perishable food items for needy community members. Boy Scouts Troop #73 will be on hand to take pre-orders for grave blankets and wreaths. New this year: Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) Church and Cannon Chapter will be offering sponsorships for veteran's wreaths for Wreaths Across America, coloring pages for children, and the option to write a note to a veteran. Questions?
