Wreaths Across America Ceremony, Saturday at Noon

Thanks to our sponsors

The Church and Cannon Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, are hosting their first Wreaths Across America Ceremony on Saturday, December 17, at Noon, at Town Hall.

Military members and veterans will place ceremonial wreaths representing each branch of the service. Wreaths Across America started as a simple gesture of thanks that has grown into a national movement of dedicated volunteers and communities coming together to not only remember the nation's fallen and honor their service, but to teach the next generation about the sacrifices made for us to live freely. Those interested in sponsoring a $15 wreath are invited to visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/NJ0207P to learn more. Each sponsorship goes toward a fresh balsam veteran's wreath that a volunteer will place on the headstone of an American hero. Last year 2.4 million wreaths were placed at more than 3,100 participating locations. Once Springfield's historic Battle Ground Cemetery soldiers' graves are covered, any additional wreaths will be used for other cemeteries who may not have enough for their veterans' graves.
