Baseball Writer David Krell to Speak About the Magical Year of 1966 at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 15

The Springfield Free Public Library is delighted to welcome baseball writer - and former Springfield resident - David Krell to discuss his latest book, "Do You Believe in Magic? Baseball and America in the Groundbreaking Year of 1966." This program will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 15.

Krell will talk about the seismic shifts that were taking place in 1966, including the Supreme Court's Miranda warnings decision, a World Series upset, the publication of Jacqueline Susann's best selling "Valley of the Dolls," the television debut of Batman, and NASA's five successful Project Gemini missions. He will use the 1966 baseball season as a unifying thread to make the case that innovation was the common theme during this extraordinary but often overlooked year.

This program is free and open to all members of the general public and registration is not required. Copies of Krell's book will be available for purchase after the program.
