2023 Tree Lighting Features Live Concert and New Snow Throw Inflatable

Thanks to our sponsors

The Township of Springfield will light the Christmas Tree at Town Hall with a seasonal musical tribute on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm, outside Town Hall and the First Aid Squad. In the event of rain or snow, the free celebration will be postponed until the next day, Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Prior to the tree lighting countdown, the community will be treated to live performances by Taye McQueen, singer, actress, and Jonathan Dayton High School Class of 2011 graduate; students from Front & Center for Performing Arts of Springfield; the Jonathan Dayton High School All Stars; and Jonathan Dayton High School individual student performers. The program will feature greetings by Mayor Christopher Capodice, as well as appearances by a stilt-walking Toy Soldier and the Grinch. A scout from Scouts BSA Troop #73 will be on hand to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Santa Claus will make a spirited entrance and pose for photos. New this year: Children can take turns tossing snowballs in the Snow Throw inflatable. During the event, hot pretzels will be provided by the Springfield Recreation Department, holiday coupon books by the Springfield Business Improvement District (B.I.D.), and hot chocolate and donuts courtesy of the Springfield F.M.B.A. Local #57. Attendees are encouraged to bring grocery store gift cards for the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield to donate to resident families in need. Springfield Unity Project (S.U.P.) will be collecting non-perishable food items for needy community members. Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) Church and Cannon Chapter will be offering sponsorships for veteran's wreaths for Wreaths Across America and coloring pages for children. Questions?
