On Monday, February 12, 2018, the Springfield Township Committee held an informal Workshop Session, which will occur on a monthly basis (every Monday before the second Tuesday) at 7:00 PM. The session emphasized updates from the department as well as a casual discussion between committee members.

A few highlights included:

  • Resolutions for the retirement of Joe Sarno, executive assistant at the Department of Public Works and Captain Patrick McLaughlin of the Springfield Police Department.
  • Announcement for dates of the town-wide garage sales. The public should be aware that June 16-17 and September 8-9 have been suggested.

  • Recognition for Robert Boettcher, Supervisor of Public Works, who recently earned the designation of Certified Public Works Manager from the State of New Jersey.
  • A notice that there is pending construction planned for Short Hills Avenue between Morris Avenue and Millburn Avenue, which will detour traffic as well as the Springfield Jitney bus.

Other news included an update from Adam Lieb, Director of Recreation, who indicated that construction of the new pool building is on schedule. In addition, on February 22, 2018, from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM, the town will gather at Chisholm Community Center for a celebration of Black History Month.
