Township Swears in Newest Police Officer at April 23rd Meeting

Thanks to our sponsors

At the beginning of the meeting the Mayor administered the Oath of Office to the Township's newest Police Officer.

Chief Cook thanked everyone for coming to the meeting to celebrate the swearing in of our newest police officer, Hope Arthur, who is here tonight with her Mom and Dad, three brothers and her two daughters, Alexa and Anaya.

Chief Cook further commented “I would once again like thank the TC for allowing me to maintain the Department’s structure.  I would also like to thank all first responders who are here in support for Hope and her family and I would mostly like to thank her family for trusting our department with their daughter, their sister, their Mom.

Officer Arthur has worked in varying levels of law enforcement including being a Corrections Officer before joining the Union County Sheriff’s Office after graduating from the Stamler Police Academy in December of 2016.  She then became certified as a School Resource Officer and was assigned to the Union County Magnet/Vo-Tech School in Scotch Plains, and is currently continuing her education at FDU.

Hope has a great spirit for volunteerism and had previously started a reading program for underprivileged youth and has coached many youth sports teams.

She is also a member of the Hispanic Law Enforcement Association of Union County.

Officer Arthur became a member of our Springfield Team on April 13th and tonight is her ceremonial swearing in."
