Recreation Department Announces October 2026 Calendar for 55+ Community
The Springfield Recreation Department's October 2026 calendar for the 55+ community includes: a variety of games such as bingo, poker, dominos, rummikub, and puzzles; computer lab; indoor open-play pickleball (free annual registration required); "Shape Up with Liz," "Forever Fit with Betsy," "Music & Movement with Lisa," and "Exercise, Moves, & Music with Union Health Department" exercise classes (free annual registration required); fitness room open on weekdays from 9:00 am-8:00 pm (free annual registration required); bus trip to Old York Cellars in Ringoes (sold out); bus trip to Shore Club in Spring Lake (sold out); "Decorate Your Own Pizza" with Andrea (must RSVP, limit 17); "Battle of Springfield" video and live discussion (RSVP); and the Springfield Senior Citizens Club meeting and luncheon (RSVP and pay $5 by Thursday, October 22).
On Monday, October 26, eligible residents are encouraged to make an appointment to donate blood at Chisholm from 1:00-7:00 pm, by calling the New York Blood Center-New Jersey Blood Services at (732) 672-5281. Walk-ins are also welcome. This blood drive is hosted by the Springfield Police Department in memory of Detective John Patrick.
Free weekday in-Springfield bus service is available from 8:45 am-3:30 pm (with some exceptions such as bus maintenance, special bus trips, and Columbus Day). We can drive you to and from Chisholm, Library, Post Office, supermarkets, pharmacies, salons, fitness clubs, physical therapy, stores, restaurants, doctors, and more!
