       Township Committee – May 12, 2026 at 7 p.m.

 

NOTE: This may not be the order of business. There may be additions or deletions. Regular Session - 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m.

1. Call to Order

a. Notice: This meeting is being held in accordance with the Public Laws of 1975, Chapter 231 and adequate notice of this meeting has been provided by a Notice sent to The Star Ledger, The Local Source and posted in the Main Lobby of the Municipal Building and on the Township website.

2. Proclamations & Announcements

a. Springfield 55+ Residents Calendar May 2026.

b. Pizza with the Police, Wednesday, May 13th, from 5pm-7pm at TD Pizza.

c. Springfield Community Pool membership registration is open online at www.thesay.org/scp

d. Overnight parking permission request will now be accepted online. Please visit www.springfield-nj.us/departments/police/. Questions can be directed to traffic@springfield-nj.us.

e. The Union County Board of Elections is currently seeking Republican and Bilingual Poll Workers for the Primary Election on June 2nd.  Compensation for the day is $300.   If interested in serving, please apply online at www.ucnj.org/pollworker.  The drop box is located in the Chisholm parking lot by the handicapped ramp. Early voting begins Tuesday, May 26th and ends Sunday, May 31st.  Visit the County website for participating Municipalities www.unioncounty votes.com.  Please note Springfield does not offer early voting.

f.  Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th, Ceremony begins 10 am at Veterans Park,

    with parade immediately following down Mountain Avenue to Jonathan Dayton HS

    where Springfield-Hillside Elks Lodge 2004 has a free hot dog and drink waiting!

    Grand Marshal for 2026 is Joseph Policastro.

g. Please be advised that garbage collection will increase to twice a week starting Tuesday May 26th through Friday September 4th. Collection days will be either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday, depending on your location.

 h. The Town Wide Garage sale is scheduled for Saturday June 6th and Sunday June 7th from 9am – 6pm.  While no permit is required to participate, we ask that you register your address on the town website. This will allow residents and visitors to easily locate all participating homes.

 i.  Springfield’s Pride Month Celebration, Friday, May 29, Chisholm Park (near

     Community Center) 6:30pm, rainbow flag raising, speeches, live musical

     performances, 7:30pm “Wicked” on big screen, refreshments. RSVP for event

 j. Proclamation – Emergency Medical Services Week – Presented to Springfield First Aid Squad President Liz Fritzen

 k. Springfield Police Department will host a Presentation on NJ E-Bike Laws &

     Roadway Safety, Wednesday, May 20, 6pm, Chisholm Community Center.

                 iii. Resolution 2026-145 This resolution approves the street closing and banner

           iv. Resolution 2026-146 This introduces and approves the proposed 2026 Budget

                for the Springfield Community Partnership and provides for public hearing and

                     viii. Resolution 2026-150 This resolution authorizes a Jurisdictional Agreement

                           between the Township and NJDOT for highway maintenance and control

                           Mountain Avenue intersection.

                        accessories for the Police Department from Lawmen Supply Company in

                        accordance with the State of New Jersey Cooperative Purchasing Program, in an

                        amount not to exceed $29,758,50.

                 xvi. Resolution 2026-158 This resolution authorizes the Township to purchase a 2026

                       Ford F250 for the Police Department from Winner Ford in accordance with the

                       State of New Jersey Cooperative Purchasing Program, in an amount not to exceed

                       $56,408.00 (COAF).

                 xvii. Resolution 2026-159 This resolution authorizes the Township to purchase three

                        (3) Interceptor Utility vehicles for the Police Department from Winner Ford in

                        amount not to exceed $143,235.00 (COAF).

                        Committee’s cannabis subcommittee and authorizes the Township Clerk to begin
