Recreation Department and Senior Citizens Club Host Joyce Saltman for Zoom Comedy Show

Springfield's senior citizens were treated to a dose of levity courtesy of Joyce Saltman -- a retired professor and humorist -- on Tuesday, March 16. In the monthly Zoom presentation provided by the Recreation Department and the Senior Citizens Club, Saltman's comedy touched on the COVID-19 pandemic, staying positive, coping, intimacy, and even chocolate. Saltman is Professor Emeritus at Southern Connecticut State University and received her doctorate from Columbia University.

Scream Trucks Are Coming to Town!

March 9th Township Committee Meeting Highlights

For the first time in a year the Township Committee met on March 9th in person at town hall while streaming online in several formats.  A presentation was made to Don Auer for his 50 years of service in American Legion Post 228.  Ed Galante, the Tax Assessor gave a brief update on the upcoming revaluation which will be starting again to re-evaluate the interiors of homes in Town.  Letters will go out in March and April detailing the three methods of evaluating property interiors, the traditional in person inspection, answer a questionnaire yourself or a “zoom” insp

Recreation Department Announces Easter Bunny Meet & Greets

The Springfield Recreation Department is offering meet and greets with the Easter Bunny on Saturday, April 3, 2021, from 1:00-4:00 pm, at Chisholm Park. Rain location is inside the Chisholm Community Center. COVID-19 safety protocols and gathering limits will be followed. Arbor Terrace Provides St. Patrick's Day Snacks to Senior Citizens

On Wednesday, March 3, senior citizens who gathered at the Chisholm Community Center for bingo were treated to St. Patrick's Day-themed snacks courtesy of Arbor Terrace -- a private community in Mountainside on the Springfield border. Arbor Terrace offers assisted living, dementia/memory care, and a neighborhood devoted to socialization among residents with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
