The Springfield Free Public Library is pleased to once again present The Battle of Springfield: A Conversation, an engaging video screening and live discussion exploring one of Springfield’s most significant Revolutionary War events, on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 2 pm in the Donald Palmer Museum at the Springfield Free Public Library, located at 66 Mountain Avenue, Springfield, NJ.

The program features Wendy Jones, President of Ida Bell Publishing, in conversation with Margaret Bandrowski, former President of the Springfield Historical Society. Together, they examine the pivotal 1780 Battle of Springfield — why it mattered then and why it continues to matter today.  The original presentation back in October sparked strong interest and audience engagement, prompting the return of Jones and Bandrowski to present the screening again and participate in another live Q&A with attendees.

The program also showcases powerful photographs by Denise DeVone, which vividly bring the battle and Springfield’s Revolutionary past to life. The video was edited by Les Henson.

As General Nathanael Greene once said, “We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again.” His words reflect the resilience of the Continental Army and the enduring spirit of Springfield during one of New Jersey’s defining Revolutionary War moments.

Following the screening, audience members will have the opportunity to engage directly with historian Margaret Bandrowski during a live question-and-answer session.
