NOTE: This may not be the order of business. There may be additions or deletions. Regular Session - 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m.
1. Call to Order
a. Notice: This meeting is being held in accordance with the Public Laws of 1975, Chapter 231 and adequate notice of this meeting has been provided by a Notice sent to The Star Ledger, The Local Source and posted in the Main Lobby of the Municipal Building and on the Township website.

2. Proclamations & Announcements
a. Springfield 55+ Residents Calendar August 2026.
b. The last week for twice a week garbage collection is August 31st.
c. The Town Wide Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday September 5th and Sunday
September 6th from 9am – 6pm. While no permit is required to participate, we ask
that you register your address on the town website. This will allow residents and
visitors to easily locate all participating homes.
d. All Municipal Offices will be closed on Labor Day, Monday September 7th.
e. Bulk pick up is Wednesday September 16th. Please have all items curbside Tuesday evening.
f. The Union County Property Fraud Alert System link has been added to our Township website under announcements and the Tax Assessor’s tab. It takes only a few minutes to subscribe and protect yourself from property fraud.
g. National Voter Registration, an annual nonpartisan event, is Tuesday, September 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Library, at which time you may check your registration status, register to vote and make use of voting resources.
h. 9/11 Ceremony, Town Hall, Friday, September 11 with Assembly at 8:30 a.m.
i. It is with regret that we announce the passing of Retired Fire Chief Donald Schwerdt, Jr., on July 29. Chief Schwerdt dedicated many years of service to the Springfield Fire Department and our community. He was appointed to the department on
December 1, 1977, and served as our Fire Chief from 2004 to 2006, prior to his
Retirement. Please keep the Schwerdt family in your thoughts and prayers during
this difficult time.

new automotive vehicles, including original apparatus and equipment,
in, by and for the Township of Springfield, County of Union, State of NJ,
to appropriate the sum of $2,967,500 to pay the cost thereof, to make a
downpayment, to authorize the issuance of bonds to finance such
appropriation and to provide for the issuance of bond anticipation notes in
